ILDIKO I 53 - Doing something for myself.
I love sharing and highlighting parts of my 40 over 40 participants’ lives and what they are doing for their community.
Meet Ildiko, 53, the first thing people notice about her is her name, Ildiko. Her name is Hungarian as her father was born and raised there. Her mother was born and raised in Indonesia and she was born in The Netherlands which is why her first language is Dutch; she was mostly raised in Europe and the US. She has been married for over 28 years and has 4 children ages 26, 22, 18, and 16 which have all been homeschooled. Her oldest daughter is married but no grandchildren yet for Ildiko. At the age of 50, she decided to pursue a career in Midwifery and she is now a fully licensed midwife specializing in out-of-hospital birth mostly at people's homes. She has traveled all over the world most recently to Uganda and Malawi where she has done work with pregnant women.
Becoming a midwife is something Ilkdo has checked off of her bucket list; she feels very confident while serving pregnant women.
She has experienced life-changing events that have shaped and built her character. Such as becoming a Christian which changed her life completely, meeting her husband, having children, traveling to Africa, and becoming a midwife.
What she values in life has changed over time. Now, she finds herself valuing her relationships over many things.
Her family and friends describe her as a lover of Christ, a loyal wife, a great mom, and an amazing midwife.
Her future plans include continuing to serve pregnant mothers to have the best birth experience they most desire.
A myth she would like to bust about being over 40 is that age is totally just a number. Ildiko says being over 40 is the best time in your life because you are more settled, know what you believe, and are less worried about what other people think. Plus you have more money to do the things you would like to do in life.
The advice she woukd like to share with younger women is “God's plan is always better.”
Ildiko had this photo session experience as an opportunity to do something for herself. What an honor to have been chosen as your photographer.
